Gladys Elizabeth Frisbee, a long-time resident of Brevard, died February 7th at Tore's Home of Brevard.
She was born in Hot Springs, NC on September 7, 1928. She was the daughter of Adley and Fannie Ricker.
After graduating high school, she worked for a short period of time for Beacon Industries of Asheville, NC. Soon afterwards she married Grover W. Frisbee. Grover began his career as a semi-pro baseball player and they moved to Ogden, Utah. When they returned to North Carolina, they settled in Brevard and began raising their family.
In June of 1974, she opened Grover's Office Supply. She loved operating the office supply business until she retired in October of 1997. She loved her family and the many visits she had with them.
She is survived by her husband, Grover Frisbee; her daughter, Karen Sharpe and her husband Dan; her daughter, Sharon McManamay and her husband Randy; her son, Randy Frisbee and his wife Sherri; her son, Greg and his wife Janice; her sister, Alma Owenby; her brother, Reeves Ricker; her sister, Iona Frisbee; her brother, Dean Ricker; and eleven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Carl Ricker, Doyle Ricker, Burlin Ricker, and Charles Ricker.
The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, at Brevard Wesleyan Church. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens Cemetery in Pisgah Forest.
