Lake Toxaway - Gloria Fisher Thomas, 66, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 after an extended battle with breast cancer. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Woodrow Wilson and Effie Galloway Fisher. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Tommie Hinkle, brother; Doug Fisher and nephew, Timothy Hinkle. Gloria was a faithful member of Faith Baptist Church in Lake Toxaway where she served as secretary/treasurer for more than 20 years. She worked as a substitute teacher for Transylvania County Schools where she impacted the lives of many students at Rosman Middle and High Schools although, most of her life was spent caring for her family. Survivors include her husband of 46 years, James (JL) Thomas; two sons, James Thomas and wife Lori of Fort Mill, SC and Jeffrey Thomas of Lake Toxaway; sister, Geraldine Ashe and husband Wayne of Lake Toxaway; mother in law, Geneva Thomas of Lake Toxaway; four grandchildren, Sarah and Lily Costner and Geneva(Ginny) and Christopher Thomas, two nieces; Hollyn Ashe of Nome, Alaska and Heidi Ashe of Old Fort, NC, as well as many other friends and relatives whom she loved dearly. The Thomas family would like to thank their neighbors, the members of Faith Baptist Church, TRH Home Care and Hospice and the Brevard Cancer and Infusion Center for their support throughout Gloria's illness. Memorial services will be held 3pm, Sunday, April 13, 2014 at Faith Baptist Church in Lake Toxaway with the Rev. Kyle Reese officiating.
