Mills River - Gloria Lucille Moody Wilson was born on August 17, 1945 in Travelers Rest, South Carolina to her parents Reverend Roy Edward Moody and Cora Lucille Turner Moody.
Gloria was a graduate of Rosman High School in 1963. She then received her bachelors degree in elementary education from Western Carolina University in 1967. Gloria was a teacher for 31 years and retired from Buncombe County Schools.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant brother, and sisters Katherine Moody, Betty Tinsley, and Carolyn Moody Owen.
While attending Western Carolina University, Gloria met the love of her life, Michael Emmett Wilson. They were wed on June 10, 1967 at Cherryfield Baptist Church in Rosman, North Carolina. They enjoyed traveling together and making a bunch of wonderful memories together. Gloria also enjoyed playing golf, going to Cherokee, and spending time with her family. Her most enjoyable time spent was at the beach while putting her feet in the sand and looking for seashells.
Gloria is survived by her husband of 57 years, Michael, son Patrick Scott Wilson, daughter-in-law Sandra Lynn Wilson, and her precious granddaughters Katelynn Marie and Kiersten Danielle Wilson. Her nephews Jeff Owen, Anthony Tinsley, and Greg Tinsley also survive her.
Visitation for Gloria will be held at 11 AM at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home in Brevard, North Carolina on May 15, 2024. The service will be held after the visitation at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory in Pisgah Forest, North Carolina.
