Brevard – Harold Edward Bowles, 86, passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at The Oaks of Brevard. A native of Union County, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Walter and Gladys Benman Bowles. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was the past president of the Lions Club and long- time member of the United Methodist Church. He had also served with Schenck Job Corps in Pisgah Forest for some fifteen years. Loved ones he leaves behind include his wife of sixty-five years, Arlene Webster Bowles; sons Walter Bowles of Califon, NJ and Glenn Bowles of Brevard; daughters Barbara Bowles of Santa Fe, NM, and Bonnie Bowles Perlman of Potomac, MD; and five grandchildren. A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, May 31, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Brevard with Rev. Mike Holder officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First United Methodist Church of Brevard or to Four Seasons Hospice.
