Lake Toxaway – Harold Douglas Mason, 65, died Wednesday, March 30, 2011. He was the son of the late Harlow and Ada Owen Mason. He was also preceded in death by his best friend and loving wife, Katherine Mason. Mr. Mason was a veteran of the U. S. Marine Corp and was a member and former Past Master of Dunn's Rock Masonic #267. He was a member of North Toxaway Baptist Church. Surviving are his two daughters, Kim Rector and husband Kent of Troutman, NC, and Jenny Harron and husband Danny of Etowah; four grandchildren, Cole and Eli Rector, and Lauren and Jackson Harron, all whom he adored. He is also survived by one brother, Lloyd "Sonny" Mason and wife Shelby Jean of Brevard and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday, April 3, 2011 at North Toxaway Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Mullis officiating. Burial will be in Lake Toxaway Baptist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County, and Masonic graveside rites conducted by Dunn's Rock Masonic Lodge #267. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:15 pm Sunday at the church.
