Harry Stark Kaplan, 91, of Brevard, NC, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 8, 2013, at his Ridge Haven home.
He was a son of the late A.N. Kaplan, Sr., and Terryce Kaplan. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, A.N. Kaplan, Jr.
He was a member of Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Brevard, a veteran of the United States Navy, having served on the U.S.S. Talladega during WWII. He was a former member of Kiwanis Club, former board member of Westminster Christian School in Miami, FL, and elder of Shenandoah Presbyterian Church in Miami, FL.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Anna Wilmarth Kaplan; one son, Harry S. Kaplan, Jr. of Jackson, MS; one son, Bruce W. Kaplan and wife, Vicki, of Miami, FL; one son, Stephen R. Kaplan and wife, Linda, of Powder Springs, GA; one daughter, Terryce Kaplan Gilchrist and husband Stephen of Woodstock, GA; one sister-in-law, Merilyn Kaplan of Asheville, NC; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Monday, May 13, 2013, at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church with Rev. Dr. H. Andrew Silman and Rev. Mo UpDeGraff officiating.
The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
