Hazel Summey Kitchen Balsam Grove – Hazel Summey Kitchen, 85, died on Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Transylvania Regional Hospital. A native of Oconee County, SC, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Marion Edwin Summey and Jessie Melissa Powell Summey and was the wife of the late Randall Everett Kitchen who died in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Maggie Rampey and Rheba Kelly, and brothers Ed, Glen, Pat and Brandon Summey. Surviving are her sons, Michael Everett Kitchen and wife Catherine and Donald Brett Kitchen and wife Cathy all of Balsam Grove; grandchildren, Travis Kitchen of Balsam Grove, Tracy Manoogian and husband Jason of Cedar Mtn., Ruth Anne Newton and husband Greg of Pisgah Forest, and Jessica Kitchen of Sylva; great-grandchildren, James, Benjamin and Bethany Manoogian all of Cedar Mtn.; sister, Louise Sharp of Gordon, GA; several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 PM Saturday, November 2, 2013 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with the Rev. Buster McCall officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 until 2 PM Saturday at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
