Helen Hogsed Brookshire, 81, passed away on Friday, March 14, 2014 at the Brian Center, Brevard, NC. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late William Randolph Hogsed and Florida Allison Hogsed and was the wife of the late Charles Brookshire. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Bill Hogsed. Mrs. Brookshire was a member of Dunn's Rock Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Charles Brookshire and wife Deborah of Tucson, AZ; daughters, Martha Carol Evatt and husband Allan of Chester, SC, Joan McCraw and husband Bill of Rutherfordton, NC, Becky Short and husband Scott of Kathleen, GA; sisters, Betty Sanford of Brevard, Nell Corn of Hendersonville; brother, Fred Hogsed and wife Zell of Brevard; eleven grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild. The funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 17, 2014 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Claude Nicholson and Rev. Dean West officiating. Burial will be in Connestee Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
