Helen Poderis Hardin, age 96, of Brevard, passed away peacefully on October 11, 2023.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Clarence C. Hardin, and her son, Glen C. Hardin.

She is survived by a number of nieces and nephews.

Helen was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA. After her schooling, she moved to Washington, DC for work. There, she met Clarence, who was a career Air Force officer. She spent the next 23 years as a military wife, living in locations including England, Germany, Panama, and the United States. She found each base new and exciting, always looking for ways to volunteer. In the early 1970's, Clarence retired, and they moved to Transylvania County.

Helen loved gardening, as was evidenced by her beautiful flowers and shrubs, her favorite being her flame azaleas. She loved animals, regularly feeding the birds and deer in her backyard. She also enjoyed playing the violin.

Helen received excellent care at Accordius during her time there. She was also taken care of by Danielle Major, who saw to her needs like a daughter.

She was a devout Catholic and attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Brevard.
