Henry Michael O’Shields, 70, of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, entered the Kingdom of Heaven surrounded by his family in prayer on Monday, May 11, 2026.
Born and raised in Transylvania County, Henry was the son of the late Alfred Burt “Peanut” O’Shields. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, David Allen O’Shields and Alfred Randall O’Shields.
He is survived by his mother, Annie Jean O’Shields of Pisgah Forest, and her friend, Larry Banks of Weaverville; the love of his life, Julie Morgan O’Shields of Rosman, North Carolina; his brother, Gary Lee O’Shields and friend Loretta Dotson of Pisgah Forest; and his sister, Sandra O’Shields Owen and husband Michael Owen of Pisgah Forest.
Henry’s true joy in life was his children: son Timmy Ray Owen of Rosman, NC; daughter Tara Eden Brown and husband Isaac Brown of Penrose, NC; son Michael Clinton O’Shields of Rosman, NC; son Jason Branigan O’Shields and friend Madilyn Owens of Rosman, NC; son Dylan Morgan of Rosman, NC; daughter Krista Baynard of Pisgah Forest, N.C; and daughter Meghan Ayala of Rosman, NC.
Henry’s greatest joy was spending time as “Papa Henry” with his beloved grandchildren: Reagan Brown, Ellie Brown, Ethan Brown, Mylah Brown, Tristan Michael O’Shields, Ava Grace O’Shields, Everleigh O’Shields, MaKinley O’Shields, Jaxton Henry O’Shields, Jace Michael O’Shields, Lottie O’Shields, Hannah Tillick, and Tansley Hooper.
A veteran of the United States Army and a career commercial truck driver, Henry made lifelong friends and memories across the country throughout his years on the road.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on June 4, 2026, at Biltmore Church (Brevard Campus).
Though Henry will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing he is in the presence of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
