Mills River – Herbert Robert "Bobby" McCall, 80, died on Friday, December 16, 2016 at the Elizabeth House, Flat Rock, NC after a lengthy illness. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late George Volney McCall, Sr. and Ellen Orr McCall. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Lucy Jones and Georgia McCall, his brothers, George Volney "Junior" McCall, Jr., Sam "Bud" O. McCall, James Lee "Jake" McCall, and Tommy McCall. Mr. McCall was an avid hunter. He loved going to flea markets, yard sales, and selling Christmas trees at the Farmer's Market. He was the former owner of Longview Shell in Mills River and he enjoyed sitting on his porch in his rocker and listening to bluegrass. Mr. McCall was a loving and caring husband, father and "PaPaw". Survivors include his wife of 62 years Juanita McCall; daughters, Vickie Davis and husband Mark, of Etowah, Lisa Sobolewski of Mills River; sons, Ricky McCall and his late wife, Denise of Mills River, Chris McCall and wife Sheryl of Saluda, NC; grandkids of whom he dearly loved and was so proud of, Cody McCall, Noah McCall, Madison and Marlee Sobolewski; sisters, Betty Atwood of Falls Church, Virginia, Susie Padgett of Rosman, Pat Hoxit and husband Tom of Pisgah Forest; brother, Guy Lee McCall and wife Betty of Brevard; numerous nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 11 am Tuesday, December 20, 2016 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Monday at the funeral home.
