Pickens, SC – Hilda Jolene Simpson, 69, passed away on Tuesday, February 18, 2014. A native of Transylvania County, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Mathis. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Lisa Renee Owens and her sister, Holly Reems. Jolene loved to travel. She enjoyed camping and the outdoors. She is survived by her mother, Gaynell Shook Mathis; her husband of 19 years, Jack A. Simpson, son, Benjamin Swafford of Westminster, SC; daughter Tammy Wirtz of Westminster, SC; brothers, Randy Mathis of Mills River, Jack and Tony Mathis of Brevard; sisters, Linda Heatherly of Brevard, Sandra McCall of Brevard, Rita Johnson of Marrietta, SC and Rhonda Smith of Brevard; five grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at 12pm on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at Rock Bridge Cemetery in Jackson County with Rev. Don Johnson officiating.
