Pisgah Forest - Homer R. Blythe, 81, passed away on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at his home in Pisgah Forest.
He was a native of Transylvania County and was the son of the late Joseph Manning and Mattie Rhodes Blythe. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Blythe was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II and he served as a guard during the Nuremburg War Crime Trials. He retired from Ecusta in 1991 after 40 years of service and he was a member of English Chapel United Methodist Church.
Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Ann English Blythe; daughter, Linda Blythe Burns and husband Bud of Pisgah Forest; son, Steve Blythe of Brevard; three grandchildren, Kerrie Gosnell of Etowah, Stephanie Chapman of Brevard, and Clayton Blythe of Brevard; four great-grandchildren, Caleb, Isaac, Elizabeth,, and Weston.
The graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Pisgah Gardens with the Rev. Lee Eakes officiating.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 7:30 pm Saturday, September 18, 2010 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his honor to English Chapel United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 1074, Pisgah Forest, NC 28768.
