Rosman – Howard John Aiken, 81, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at the Oaks of Brevard. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Richmond Pierce Aiken and Rozella Meece Aiken. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Beulah Aiken, Osa Whitmire, and Myrtle Owens. Mr. Aiken was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving in Korea. He was retired from Ecusta Corp. and was a member of Rosman Baptist Tabernacle. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Jamerson Aiken; daughter, Maria Franks and husband Billy of Rosman; son, Gary Aiken and wife Kathleen of Greenwood, SC; brothers, Arthur Aiken of Rosman, Ray Aiken of Brevard, Leo Aiken of Atlanta, GA, Earl Aiken of Brevard, Paul Aiken of Balsam Grove, and Donald Aiken of Rosman; sister, Dorene Byers of Columbus, NC; grandchildren, Nathan Aiken and wife Jennifer of Virginia Beach, VA, Aaron Aiken of Greenwood, SC, and Colby Franks of Rosman. The funeral service will be held at 2 pm at Rosman Baptist Tabernacle with the Revs. Alan Aiken and Ray Aiken officiating. Burial will be in Galloway Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 pm Monday at the church.
