Balsam Grove – Inza Shalma Blakley Rathbone, 78, passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.

She was born March 19, 1944 to the late Furman and Phyllis Smith Gant Blakley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Grover and Cora Holt Smith, son, Brian Keith Rathbone and great grandson, Matthew Hall.

Shalma enjoyed working in her evergreen and basket business for many years, landscaping, flowers and the outdoors. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

Survivors include sister, Phylura "Lori" Roberts of Marietta, SC, brother, Lloyd Smith and wife Kat of Marietta, SC, ex-husband and father of her children, Robert Keith Rathbone of Balsam Grove, sons, Blair Rathbone and Rita of Yancey County and Brandon Rathbone and Trish of Balsam Grove, daughter, Deidre McCurry and husband Buddy of Balsam Grove, grandchildren, Sammy McCurry and Jessica of Six Mile, SC, Marci Rathbone of Marietta, SC, Laura Rathbone Lively and Jonathan of Rosman, Kristian Rathbone of Rosman, BJ Rathbone of SC, Krystal Rathbone Lambert and Chris of SC, Darren Rathbone and Blake Rathbone of Balsam Grove, great grandchildren, Claire York, Wynter McCurry, Ray Brown, McKinnley Burkhart, William Hall, Isaiah Rigdon, Kayden and Ayvah Lee O'Shields, RoseLee Frady, Christopher, Jazmin and Breden Lambert, nieces and nephews, Wendy, Angela, Ross, Robert, Michelle and Joel of Marietta, SC.

The family would like to thank the care team at the Oaks of Brevard and Hospice for the loving care they gave and so many others for their kind, loving support.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
