Rosman – Iva Jean O'Shields, 80, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, February 5, 2016. A native of Transylvania County she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Essie Murphy Holden. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Joyce Ann Powell, brothers, Kenneth and Jimmy Holden, grandsons, Joshua O'Shields and Michael Lee Fisher, and great-grandson, Eric Henderson. Ms. O'Shields was retired from M-B Industries after 28 years of service. Surviving are daughters, Brenda Shelton and husband Warren of Rosman, Rita Whitmire and husband Randy of Rosman, Carolyn VanGilder and husband Joseph of Little River, and Paula Lance and husband Earl of Little River; son, Emmerson O'Shields of Rosman; sisters, Cherie Galloway of Brevard and Ruby Nell Rigsby of Rosman; brother, Elvin Holden and wife Helga of Melbourne, Australia; 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren, 18 great-great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Thursday. February 11, 2016 at Crossroads Baptist Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Memorials may be to Carolyn O.
