Jack Edgar Conard
April 27, 1943 – March 3, 2025
Jack Edgar Conard, 81, of Etowah, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2025. He was born on April 27, 1943, in Canton, NC, to Raymond and Lois Conard.
A proud patriot, Jack honorably served his country in the U.S. Army. After his service, he met and married the love of his life, Susie Walker, in December 1964. Together, they shared 57 years of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion until her passing in 2021.
Jack retired from Meritor as a skilled maintenance mechanic and was widely respected as one of the best in his field. Hardworking and dedicated, he took great pride in his work and was known for his expertise.
Jack loved life and found joy in simple pleasures. He and Susie shared a passion for gardening, working on projects around their home, and spending time together. He enjoyed visiting his favorite thrift stores, always looking for treasures to share with family and friends and driving his great grandchildren around in his golfcart with his faithful dog, Maggie. Jack had a generous heart, finding great fulfillment in giving—whether it was gifts, food, or simply his time and kindness.
The most important day of Jack's life was Sunday, February 4, 2001—the day he accepted Christ as his Savior. From that moment on, he was bold in his faith and deeply devoted to the Lord. Jack was a member of Crab Creek Baptist Church and attended Holly Springs Baptist Church, where he found great joy in worship and fellowship.
Jack and Susie were blessed with three children: Leslie McDowell and husband, Alvin; Danny Conard and wife, Missy; and Jason Conard and wife, Amy. His beloved grandchildren are Caroline Conard, Molly-Kate Shumway, Ansley Conard, Emily Klump and husband, Ben; James McDowell and fiancée, Lily Pierson; Wyatt Conard and wife, Faith; Jessica Higdon and husband, Bo; and Eliza Conard. His cherished great-grandchildren are Adalie and Elowyn, Della and Henson, Walker, and three more precious little ones on the way. His beloved dog, Maggie, was his faithful companion.
Jack is survived by his brothers, Carol Conard, Roger Conard, and Steve Conard, all of Texas; and his sisters, Becky Edwards, Clara Thompson, Cathy Bannert, and Polly Sanders, also all of Texas. He loved his family dearly, and their lives have been made richer by his unwavering love, wisdom, and kindness.
Jack's faith was the foundation of his life, and he found peace in the promises of Scripture:
"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me." – John 14:6
"And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes, and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain." – Revelation 21:4
A service to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held at Crab Creek Baptist Church, Hendersonville, NC on Saturday March 8. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with service beginning at 2:00 pm.
Jack's love, generosity, and unwavering faith will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he will be deeply missed, we rejoice in knowing he is reunited with his beloved Susie and resting in the arms of his Savior.
Rest in peace, Jack. Your love and legacy will never be forgotten.
