Rosman – Jack E. Powell, 80, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Transylvania Regional Hospital.
A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late John Wick Powell and Anis Powell. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Glenn, Roman, and J. A. Powell, and his sisters, Beulah Crowe, Louise Powell, and Edith Cassell.
Mr. Powell was a member of East Fork Baptist Church and was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He retired from Ecusta Corp. after 41 years of service and he helped build the Rosman Fire Dept. of which he was a member of for 17 years.
Surviving are his wife, Mildred Griffin Powell; daughter, Donna Powell Grogan and husband Tony of Salem, SC; son, Ronnie E. Powell of Rosman; sister, Vera Mae Cassell of Pickens, SC; brothers, Clifford and Coolidge Powell both of Rosman; grandchildren, Morgan, Kaitlin, Caleb, and Cameron all of Salem, SC, and Neela and Evan both of Rosman; several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 3:30 pm Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Wally McCall and Dan Dellinger officiating. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:30 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
