James Galloway
July 15, 1944 – September 4, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of James Galloway, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, neighbor, and friend, who went to be with the Lord on September 4, 2025, at the age of 81.
Born on July 15, 1944, in Brevard, NC, James lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and integrity. A man of few words but immeasurable wisdom, he touched countless lives with his gentle spirit and giving heart.
James honorably served his country as a proud veteran, carrying the values of service, loyalty, and duty into every aspect of his life. Those who knew him will remember his deep respect for history, his love of learning, and his many afternoons spent at the library or sharing stories with his sons and grandson.
A devoted family man, James was a wonderful provider to his wife, Helen, and a role model to his two sons, Tim and Tony. His greatest joy was spending time with his family—whether gathered at home, exploring flea markets and yard sales, or simply enjoying quiet moments together. His grandson, Braden, was the light of his later years, and he cherished every memory they made.
Beyond his family, James gave freely of his time and energy to his community, especially to Rosman Elementary School, where his presence and generosity made a lasting difference in the lives of countless children. Known for his selflessness, he truly lived by the saying, "He would give you the shirt off his back."
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a man of honor, humility, and compassion—a neighbor always willing to lend a helping hand, a friend who listened, and a father whose love knew no boundaries.
James was preceded in death by his mother Arona & (stepfather) Frank "Trick" Lance, father Clarence & (stepmother) Katie Galloway, sister Leona Galloway, brother David Lance, sister Wanda McCall, and brother Chris Galloway. James is survived by his beloved wife Helen, his sons, Tim and Tony, his cherished grandson Braden, and his brother Joe Lance as well as extended family and dear friends who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
A service to celebrate James's life will be held on September 9th, 2025 at Moody Connolly Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 1pm - 2pm at Moody Connolly.
James's legacy of love, generosity, and quiet strength will continue to live on in the lives he so deeply touched.
