James Edward Hamilton, loving husband, father of two children, and "Pop" to eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, passed away Friday, May 21, 2021, at the age of 81.

James was born in Brevard on April 11, 1940, to Winfred and Inez Hamilton. He graduated from Brevard High School in 1958. He immediately went to work as a physical lab quality control tester at the Ecusta Division of the Olin Corporation. He retired from the company after 44 years.

His favorite activities included gardening, reading and studying his Bible, spending time with his family, volunteering at his church, serving his friends and neighbors with his handyman skills, and lavishing affection on his beautiful wife of 58 years.

He is survived by his wife, Louise "Winky" Pierson Hamilton, son, Mike and his wife Beth of Franklin, TN, daughter, Denise and her husband Greg of Rosman, grandchildren, Madison and her husband Ben Sottek, Matthew, Nate, Kiya and Kalu Hamilton, Hunter Reese and his wife Candace, Hannah Reeves and her husband Israel, and Harper Reese, great-grandchildren, Amelia Joy Reeves and Howie James Reese.

James was preceded in death by his parents, Winfred and Inez Hamilton, his sister, Juanita Hamilton, his brother, Bobby Hamilton, and his sister, Dot Hamilton Dillard.

James Edward was a humble and devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He exemplified this by sharing golden nuggets of truth with the younger generations, living with great generosity toward family and friends, being an active member in his Sunday school class and small group community and by taking on the role of prayer warrior for anyone and everyone in need.

A celebration of life will be held 11am, Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Brevard Wesleyan Church, 583 N Broad St, Brevard, NC 28712. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
