James Porter Harris Sr., age 70 of Brevard died Monday August 31 , 2010, at his residence. He was born August 17, 1940 in Jackson County to the late William Coot Harris and Pearlie McCall Harris. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a son James Porter Harris Jr., one brother Archie Harris and a grandson William Harris. Survivors include his wife Viera (Crickett) Collins Harris of the home, three daughters; Mrs. Debra Owen and her husband Earl of Cedar Mt., Mrs. Sherry Curro and her husband Jerry of Brevard , Mrs. Sandy Beddingfield and her husband Stanley of Brevard, three sisters; Mrs. Frances Collins of Brevard, Mrs. Donna Masters of Etowah and Mrs. Mary Helen Redford of Horseshoe, four grandchildren Tony and Melissa La Rocca, Johnathan La Rocca, Jennifer Beddingfield and Brandon Beddingfield and his fiancé Brianna Henderson, three very special great grandchildren Nate La Rocca, Kiersten La Rocca and Chloe Beddingfield, special friends Lewis and Jean Murr, David Herrman and Evan Connolly. Funeral services will be held Saturday September 4, 2010 at 11:00am at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tommy Owen, Rev. Robert Owen and Rev. Ray Murr. Interment will follow at Harris Cemetery in Jackson County. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 7-9:00pm at the funeral home . Serving as Pallbearers will be; Earl Owen, Casey Owen, Jerry Curro, Tony La Rocca, Johnathan La Rocca and Brandon Beddingfield.
