James Harvey Moore Meyer, 83, of Brevard, NC peacefully passed away on January 31, 2022.
James was born on May 8, 1938, to Herman Meyer and Willie Moore Meyer in Saint Louis, Missouri. After James graduated from Webster Groves High School in 1956, he went on to study Engineering and Industrial Management at Washington University.
After graduating with a degree in Industrial Management, he worked as an Advanced Training & Communications Specialist in the US Army from 1962 to 1968.
Following his time in the Army, James took his first job at McDonnell Douglas Corp as a Design Engineer, kickstarting an impressive career in Manufacturing and Engineering.
On April 20, 1968, James and Donna Lee Mueller married. Donna had one child, Robyne Lee Cruncleton from her previous marriage. On May 20, 1970, Donna and James' son, James Harvey Moore Meyer II was born. On April 9, 2005, James married Madelyn Iris Dedmondt Jordan. Madelyn has one child, Robert A. Jordan, from her previous marriage.
He was an active member of many Engineering, yacht, and political organizations. As an inventor, he has 33 issued and pending patents dealing with HVAC, Electrical and Hydraulic Controls, Pumps, and Transmissions. He also had a deep love for creating impressive sculptures including a life-sized Allosaurus. Together, James and Madelyn also co-founded the Conservative Writers Organization.
James was predeceased by his father, Herman Meyer; mother, Willie Moore Meyer; brother Bob Meyer (Pat); and sister Alice Bohle. He is survived by brother Herman Meyer (Lee); wife Madelyn Meyer; daughter Robyne McGuire (Mike); son James Meyer II; son in law Robert Jordan (Tanya); granddaughter Brittany Bemis; granddaughter Dani Zoeller (Bobby); great-grandson Vance Ellis Bemis; and great-grandson Otto Michael Zoeller.
A service and celebration of life will be held at a later date in Brevard. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to one of these organizations that James felt strongly about: the Gaston Arts Council, Cornerstone Presbyterian Church, or Brevard Music Center.
