James Larry "Dusty" Rhodes Brevard – James Larry "Dusty" Rhodes, 69, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2013. A native of Transylvania County, he was the son of the late Robert Lee Rhodes and Margie Fowler Rhodes. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Rhodes Gamble, and brothers, Robert Franklin Rhodes and Thomas Garrett Rhodes. Mr. Rhodes was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force and he was a member of the American Legion and Moose Lodge. He was a social person who was liked by everyone who met him. Surviving are his son, Robert Andrew "Randan" Rhodes of Rockledge, FL; sisters, Jolene Rhodes Owen and husband J. W. Owen of Lake Toxaway, and Judy Burrell of Brevard; fiancée, Carol Ann Hagood of Brevard; step-children, Cheri Kurz and husband Ron Kurz of Raleigh, Donna Turuc and Valarie Thomas; grandchildren, Alicia Serozi, Hillary and Amanda Persinger, and William Kurz. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM Friday, November 15, 2013 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with Celebrant Gatha Dickson officiating. Memorial military rites will follow conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
