Obituary

James Michael Robinson

June 9, 1953 - May 27, 2023

Pisgah Forest, North Carolina

James Michael Robinson, 69, of Pisgah Forest, left his earthly home and walked up to his heavenly home at 11:55 a.m. and said, "I'm home". Mike fought the battle well with Giloblastoma Brain Cancer.

Mike is a native of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina. Mike was the son of the late James(Jim) and Ruth Robinson. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents Burgin and Hazel Medford Robinson, Terell and Lillie Warren Moore and his Aunt Katherine Medford, 101 years old.

Mike is a 1971 graduate of Brevard High School and is a 1973 Graduate with Honors from Asheville Buncombe Technical College, with a diploma in Machine Shop. He began his career at Sitton's Machine Shop, T&T Machine Shop and retired from Sunbelt Spring-n-Stamping. He worked 50 years as a Machinist and Tool-n-Die worker. Mike was a member of the French Broad Rifle Club and the NRA. Mike is a member of Pisgah Forest Baptist Church.

Mike's reputation as a Machinist, according to his friends and family, was described as the best machinist they'd ever worked with. As his Grandmother Hazel, "Nanner" would say, "Mikie can do anything". Mike's perfection carried over into all aspects of his work and home. Mike's motto was: "You can make nothing into something and always make something better than it was.."

Mike enjoyed boating at the lake, fly fishing, walking on mountain trails and talking to God. A favorite pastime of his was competition muzzle-loading rifle events. He enjoyed working with his co-workers at Sunbelt Spring-n-Stamping and was known as the trickster of the bunch. He enjoyed sharing his expertise of the best methods of machine work to others. His unpredictable humor kept everyone laughing. Mike was a man of few words, but always enjoyed being a storyteller of the "good ole days".

Mike loved the USA and the freedom we have to serve God and country. His custom designed truck was used to share his loyalty for his country in his own special way and standing up for what he believed..

Mike's passionate message to all who follow him is to keep seeking after God and as you seek, God will show Himself to be real. Mike was influenced greatly by the Christian lives of co-workers, neighborhood friends, family, and his wife.

Mike is survived by his wife: Carolyn Smith Robinson of 31 years of marriage, his brother Tim Robinson (Ellen) of Brevard; former wife, Elizabeth Johnson (Jerry); his daughter Kristi Robinson Gonce of Hendersonville; his son Russell(Kevin) of Cedar Mountain, and granddaughter, Faith Gonce of Raleigh.

Mike's pride and joy was his family and many friends. He loved his daughter and son, more than words can ever express. Mike is leaving a legacy of what it is to live a life of respect and strong moral values. This reminds us that we should carry on likewise, until we see him again.

The memorial service will be held at Turkey Creek Baptist Church on Friday, June 2, 2023, with Pastor Shannon Owen and Jeff Shuford officiating. The family will receive friends between 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. The memorial service with be at 2:00.
