James Everett Singleton, 86 of Balsam Grove, North Carolina went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
The son of the late William Edward and Edna Carolina Singleton. He was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister, one daughter Pat Godwin and a son Tim Singleton.
He was a member of Woods Memorial Church and enjoyed hunting and fishing, but most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his family. He served in the U.S. Navy on the U.S. Warlock. He received the American Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.
He is survived his wife of 65 years Lucy Owen Singleton; sister Ann Singleton;
children: Shirley and husband Rev. Paul Raines; Christine and husband Criss Galloway; James Singleton, Jr. and wife Marcia; Bonnie Miller; Teresa Singleton; Sam Singleton and wife Sheila; and Joey Singleton and wife Wanda; 19 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 7, 2013 at Shoal Creek Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends at 2:00 pm at the church with service beginning at 3:00 pm. Burial will be in the Shoal Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Devon Owen and Rev. Paul Raines will officiate.
