James Edwin (Ed) Taylor, 86, of Brevard, NC passed away, Thursday, August 17, 2023 at his residence.

He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Robert Ross and Mary Conly Taylor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his bride, Clara Sue Messer Taylor and brother, Robert Ross Taylor.

He is survived by his son, James Edwin and his wife Rhonda Joy Taylor.

He was a veteran of the US Army serving in the 82 Airborne.

He moved his family to Transylvania County around 1970 transferring to the NASA Tracking Station in Balsam Grove.  This after working at Cape Canaveral in Florida and NASA Goddard

Space Flight Center in Maryland during the Gemini and Apollo programs.

He supported several ministries both local and other with all glory unto the Lord.  He honored his fellow veterans by playing Taps for the local Honor Guard for many years starting in the mid 70's.

The family will receive friends starting at 6pm with eulogy presented at 6:30 by Paul R. Williams, MD, visitation continuing until 8pm on Friday, August 25, 2023 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel.

The graveside service will be held 11am, August 26, 2023 at Mount Moriah Calvert Cemetery with the Pastor Dema Barishnikov will be officiating, Flag Presentation and Taps will be conducted by the NC National Guard Honor Guard and service will close with the playing of Amazing Grace by bagpiper, Art Davis, from Greenville, SC.

Dad loved Amazing Grace on pipes dearly.
