Jane Ledbetter Powell, 77, of Mills River, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012. A native of Brevard, she was the daughter of Walter Webb and Maria Brown Ledbetter. Her parents, her sister Catherine Eubanks and twin great-grandsons, Blake and Eli Powell, preceded her in death. She retired from 42 years of service at Citizens Telephone Company in Brevard. She is survived by her husband of almost 58 years, Earl Powell, of Mills River; daughters, Ann Garren, of Pisgah Forest, and Lynne Tinsley and husband, Larry, of Brevard; five grandchildren, Shania Garren Powell and husband, Dwayne, of Brevard, Isaac, Caleb and Rebekah Tinsley, of Brevard and Hannah Tinsley, of Tennessee and two great-grandsons, Lawson and Carter Powell. Funeral services will be Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Brevard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Organ Fund of the First United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends at FUMC Friday, Feb. 17, 2012, from 6 to 8 p.m. Moody-Connolly Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
