Janet Melton Mathis, age 85 of Pisgah Forest died Thursday December 17, 2009, at her residence. She was born August 18, 1924 in Jackson County to the late Mitchell Melton and Sadie Arrington Melton. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ranzie L. Mathis and one brother Sanford Melton. Mrs. Mathis was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. Survivors include two sons; Gene Mathis and his wife Joanne and Harold Mathis and his wife Sarah both of Pisgah Forest, one sister; Mrs. Nina Lou Watson of Washington State, four grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 :00pm Monday December 21, 2009 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tommy Owen. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Pisgah Gardens.
