Obituary

Janie Vee Vaughn Honeycutt Penrose – Janie Vee Vaughn Honeycutt, 87, of the Little River Community, went to be with the Lord she loved so dearly on May 6, 2013 at the Elizabeth House in Hendersonville, NC after a period of declining health. She was born on March 10, 1926 to the late Wade Thomas Vaughn and Sarah Jane Owenby Vaughn. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Jack Honeycutt, a son, Ronnie Jack Honeycutt, three brothers, Wade Newton "Bud" Vaughn, Joseph William "Bill" Vaughn, and Odell Vaughn, six sisters, Eva Vaughn, Reba Clayton, Beulah Clark, Ruth Smith, Nellie "Nell" Davidson, and Betty Jean O'Shields, two great-grandchildren, Brittany and Hannah Merrill, and a precious daughter-in-law, Kathy Marie Terry Honeycutt. Surviving her are three sons, Gerald and his wife Linda of Little River, Stanley and his wife Ginger of King Rd., and Keith and his wife Pam of Little River; a daughter, Vickie and husband Robert Kellner of Lafayette, LA, and one who was like a daughter, Joy McCall; nine grandchildren, Melissa Honeycutt Moreno, Shane Merrill, Mickey Honeycutt, Derek Williams, Faith Honeycutt Stamey, Ronnie Honeycutt, Josh Honeycutt, and Caleb and Janie Honeycutt. She had twenty-one treasured great-grandchildren and four step great-grandchildren. There are also many nieces and nephews surviving, and a much loved pet, "Dakota" who will greatly miss her daily love and care. Janie worked in the cotton mill in Brevard before marriage but after her first child was born she dedicated herself to her family. She loved to work in her gardens and flowers. Janie was a woman of great faith and was and advocate in prayer and had a loving ear for anyone in need or troubled. She was never too busy for anyone. Never did she focus on the bad in anyone but always looked and sought to bring forth good words for and about everyone. Encourage and strengthen were the gifts which came from her lips. Some called her their Earth Angel. Recently when reading about someone, who in the worlds view was "important", she said people don't write about people like us, "do they"? Now she is being written about. She was a very important person holding a high and honored position of Wife, Mother and Friend to many. She held the greatest of all gifts, "LOVE" and she would say as in 1 John 4, that Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another. Scripture says, the greatest gift is Love and SHE was the greatest to those who knew her. We will not be remembered by our words but by our kind deeds. Life is not measured by the breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath. It is not what you gather but what you scatter that tells what kind of life you have lived. She scattered seeds of kindness for a lifetime and will be remembered for that for the lifetime of many people. The funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, May 10, 2013 at Open Arms Tabernacle with the Rev. Keith Honeycutt officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Thursday at the church. On line condolences may be left at www.moodyconnollyfuneralhome.com Moody-Connolly Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of the arrangements.
