IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Jeannie Lynn
Seiler
August 16, 1942 – June 21, 2025
Jeannie Lynn Brown Seiler, 82, passed from this life into the strong arms of Jesus on June 21, 2025. The only daughter of the late Frank Austin and Nellie Mae Brown, she grew up in Asheville, graduated from Mars Hill College back in the day when drinkin', dancing, cussin' and picture shows were not for proper young girls. Jeannie soon came to Brevard for a job as secretary at First Baptist Church. Her only departure from the straight and narrow was meeting at Berry's Restaurant (think Wendy's) a guy from Louisiana, Richard (Dick) Seiler, a newly hired engineer at the Olin (Ecusta) Paper Company. Their first date to a Brevard High football game sealed her future, and after 62 years married, she never drank, cussed or learned to dance.
Jeannie is survived by her husband and two sons, Richard, Jr (Claire) of Monroe, LA, and David of Brevard, one granddaughter, (Sara Osborne) and one great-grandson (Brandon). Always with a love for music, she and Dick sang together and were heavily involved wherever there was music. Not long after marriage, they bought a $600 piano, not knowing but wishing they knew how to play it. Jeannie always wanted to take lessons, so she began; but about the same time she became pregnant. She carried the child inside to piano lessons for 8-1/2 months. Her lessons ended, but her son was listening all the while. He is now professor of keyboard music, ULM, and organist - choir master at Grace Episcopal Church, Monroe, LA.
Jeannie and Dick sang in several church choirs, the Transylvania Choral Society, Blue Ridge Sacred Chorale, and with just each other. Jeannie also worked as bookkeeper for the former Brevard Pharmacy and Hansen and Company CPA firm. She loved knitting, quilting, reading and devotion to God and family.
Moody-Connolly Funeral Home, Brevard, is in charge of arrangements. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers or expressions of condolence, memorial gifts may be made to the organ replacement fund at Asheville First Baptist Church.
