Obituary

Rosman -Jerry Galloway, 81, passed away unexpectedly May 1, 2021. Born January 8, 1940, he was the son of the late Louie and Beulah Pangle Galloway. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by loving wife, Mildred Galloway; sisters: Ruby Bishop, Betty Stewart, Barbara Hendricks and Brenda Robinson as well as infant sisters, Marinda and Frances Galloway; brothers, James Galloway, Derrell Galloway and T.C. Galloway; sister-in-law Carolyn Galloway; brothers-in-law Joe Stewart and Bobby Bishop. Jerry and Mildred married in December 1969, and her children quickly became his own. Survivors include children Gayle Gilstrap (Kenneth) of Liberty, SC, Pat Townsend of Lincolnton, GA and Ronnie Duncan, Carolyn Dodson (Phillip), and Sherri Duncan, all of Rosman. Grandchildren Lee Townsend, Lisa Jahnke (Arlon), Shannon Broome (Shannon), Trish Cheek, AMT1 Chris Duncan (Amanda), Master Sgt. Cole Dodson (Lindsay), Tech Sgt. Jake Dodson (LeeAnne), Cindi Lancaster (Jeff), Vicki Butler (Patrick), and Kimberly Scruggs (Colby). Also surviving are 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Other surviving family members include Jerry's twin brother Terry Galloway (Wanda); brother-in-law Bud Hendricks as well as many nieces and nephews. Jerry worked at Ecusta in the reaming department for 25 years. Jerry was a quiet soul and gentle in spirit. He was an awesome cook and enjoyed sharing his dishes with his family. He liked to watch car racing, especially Dale Ernhardt. A favorite pastime was to sit on his front porch with a Pepsi or Mountain Dew and just watch cars pass by. For years he would go to his niece Marcia's hair salon and visit with her customers and sweep the shop for her. He never met a stranger. He drove a Chevy Tahoe and spent many Sunday afternoons looking through car lots to see what new Chevrolet vehicles were available. A graveside service will be held 1pm, Thursday, May 6, 2021 at Galloway Memorial Park.
