– Jerry D. Mann, 93, passed away on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at the Oaks of Brevard. A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late John Wesley Mann and Lecie Lance Mann and was the husband of the late Rachel Arrowood Mann. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Jerri Mann Mayes, sisters, Mary Mann Hall and Edna Mann Danielson, and brothers, William "Pete" Mann and Ralph "Bud" Mann. Mr. Mann was a veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during WWII. He retired as the Safety Director from Olin Corp. after 43 years of service. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Brevard. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca M. Grose and husband Steve of Greenville, SC; son, John Wesley Mann, II and wife Lynn of Mills River; brother, Paul L. Mann and wife Mary of Candler; grandchildren, Christopher Grose and wife Tanya Blackford of Hendersonville, and Heather Fine and husband Jake of Greenville, SC; great-grandchildren, Emily, Isabel and Ansley of Hendersonville, and Tyson, Chase, and Carley of Greenville, SC. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday at the First United Methodist Church of Brevard with the Revs. Mike Jordan and Kerry Purselle officiating. Burial will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, formerly Pisgah Gardens, with military graveside rites conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County.
