Jewell "Inez" Grooms Brevard – Jewell "Inez" Grooms, 85, passed away on Monday, June 23, 2014. Inez was the daughter of the late Garland and Hester Jones Merrill. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Grooms and her sisters, Lorene Blythe and Christine and Leona Merrill. A native of Transylvania County, she was a lifelong member of Blue Ridge Baptist Church. She graduated from Greenville General Hospital Nursing School and weas employed by Transylvania Community Hospital for 42 years. She was the former president of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Inez loved flowers, basketball, baseball, the outdoors and traveling with her family. Most of all she adored her grandchildren. Surviving are her son Eddie Grooms and wife Nenia of Balsam Grove; daughters, Gail Burket and husband Paul of N. Augusta, SC and Angie McCall and husband Joey of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren, Jasper Grooms, Joshua Grooms and wife Heather, Tim Burket and wife Catherine, Michael Burket and wife Stephanie, Kyle McCall and wife Ashley and Chris McCall and six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 2pm, Friday, June 27, 2014 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with the Revs. Allen Martin and Eddie Grooms. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon.
