Obituary

John Floyd Dills Jr., 86, passed away on October 4th, 2019. His parents were the late John Floyd Dills and Zena Dills. He was the only son with nine sisters. He attended Brevard High School and graduated from Swanannoa High School. He proudly served as a United States Marine. John was employed by General Motors in Detroit and retired from Ecusta in 1998 after 42 years. He served as the Chairman of the COPE Committee for the United Paper Workers local 1971. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary Bagwell Dills, and seven sisters. Survivors include his sons Jim Dills (Sheri), Keith Dills (Myla), grandson John Parker, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews. John and Mary moved to Fletcher, but their hearts remained firmly in Transylvania County. He enjoyed lunch at the Pisgah Fish Camp visiting family and friends. He loved to hunt and fish, raise cattle, he was an avid reader, thoroughly enjoyed Classic Westerns, and was a die-hard Braves fan. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandson, and his little Pomeranian dog, Trouble. Donations in memory of John Floyd Dills may be sent to St. Jude's Children's Hospital at StJude.org. Funeral services will be held at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wed. Oct. 9th, 2019 from 12 pm to 1pm, with the funeral immediately following. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory with military rites conducted by the United States Marine Corp and the Transylvania County Honor Guard.
