Obituary

Brevard – John Lewis "J.L." Farmer, 77, passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the St. Joseph Campus of Mission Hospitals. Mr. Farmer was a native of Macon County and was the son of the late James and Zoa Farmer. He was also preceded in death by two sons, Shawn Darius Farmer, and Dana LuRay Farmer, one sister, Georgia, and one brother, Carl. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and he enjoyed fishing. He retired from the U. S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer. Surviving are his wife, Frances McCall Farmer; son, Terence Dupree Farmer and wife Teresa of Little River; daughter-in-law, Sherry Maynard Farmer of Pisgah Forest; grandchildren, Chad, Kyle, Kane, Caylan, and Kelsey; sister, Louise of Morganton; a number of nieces and nephews. The memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 5, 2011 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Assoc.
