Brevard – John Frank "Big John" Fisher, 75, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2012 at his residence. A native of Transylvania County, "Big John" was the son of the late Frank Osborne Fisher and Wilma Lenore Chapman Fisher. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Verona McDevitt and Betty Batson Johnson. "Big John" was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was retired from DuPont. Surviving are his wife, Linda Barton Fisher; daughters, Shawn Fisher McMurray and husband Floyd and Jamie Fisher McCraw all of Hendersonville; sons, Frank S. Fisher and wife Sabrina Kensinger of Pisgah Forest, Mitchell T. Fisher and wife Tammy of Horse Shoe, and Billy Rigler of Brevard; grandchildren, Zachariah, Darrick, Abigail, and Curtis. The memorial service will be held at 2 PM Thursday, December 27, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Owen officiating and military honors conducted by the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
