It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Edward King of College Walk, Brevard NC, who passed away on May 31, 2025 at the age of 89.
John was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. His legacy of humor, kindness, and strength will continue to inspire all that knew him.
Born on September 19, 1935 in Whittier, California. As a young man, John received the Eagle Scout Award and the Explorer Silver Award from the Boy Scouts of America. In 1953, John led the Tournament of Rose Parade in Pasadena CA. John graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in animal husbandry from Cal Poly at San Louis Obispo, CA. That began his career in the AG/Chem industry with Ciba Geigy. This career took John and his family throughout the US. Living in more than 5 states from west to east coast. While living in Florida and working with Ciba Geigy, John became CEO of the FFAA (Florida Fertilizer Ag/Chem Assn).
John and his wife finally retired in Brevard NC , making their home at College Walk where they have been blessed with many friends considered extended family.
Above all, John valued his family. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Sharon King of College Walk. His son Wesley King (Tammy). His daughter Terri King Leonard. His grandchildren Austin, Katelyn (Wesley) and Brandon (Michaela). His great grandchildren Mason, Anson, Jenson and Mackensie, and, brother-in-law Robert.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made to Brother Wolfe Animal Animal Rescue in Asheville, NC.
