John Clay Mathis, age 39 of Pisgah Forest passed away Thursday December 10, 2009. He was born July 31, 1970 in Transylvania County to John Weston Mathis and the late Ethel Jeanette Allison. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Christine Allison, paternal grandparents John and Pearl Mathis and brother-in-law Danny Calhoun. Survivors include his wife Carrie Lynn Mathis, two stepsons Triston and Weston Mathis, one son Anthony Stanley, two sisters Lynn Calhoun and Tammy Mahoney, one brother Chase Mathis, his maternal grandfather Ralph "Hoot" Allison six aunts, five uncles several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday December 16, 2009 at 2:00pm at Living Waters at Oak Grove conducted by Rev. Tommy Owen. Interment will follow at Pisgah Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday December 16, 2009 from 12:45 until 1:45pm at the church.
