John K. Sentelle passed away peacefully on 12/2/23 surrounded by his "girls", wife of 52 years, Sheila and daughters Amanda and Melissa.  He was proud that he was a fourth generation Transylvania County resident and loved the mountains and local community.   He was an avid runner, cyclist, golfer, pickle ball player, fly fisher, and a fishing consultant to his five grandchildren.  He had an entrepreneurial spirit, initially developing Kay Marie Cookies.  He then went on to build Real Property Appraisals into a thriving business, though he did often complain about his boss. He loved being active and travelling, but always looked forward to returning home to the mountains.  He had a quiet nature and gentle way of reminding us of all the important things in life.  He was a loving husband, brother to his four siblings, the G.O.A.T. of "girl dads", and Poppie to his grandkids.  There are no services planned.  He enjoyed supporting local charities and would be happy to know donations to the Sharing House had been made in lieu of flowers.
