John Joseph Tofil III, 67, died Thursday, May 27, 2010 at the Charles George VA Medical Center, Asheville, NC. A native of Stamford, CT., he was the son of the late John Joseph and Anna Sawicki Tofil, II. Mr Tofil was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1963-1967. Surviving are his wife, Starr M. Tofil; sons, James Starr Tofil and John Joseph Tofil IV both of Brevard; daughters, Kristen Tung of Florida, Dawn Vivian of Ashland, OR, Heather Corn of Waxhaw, NC, and Emily Tofil of Brevard; sister, Elaine Tofil of Stamford, CT; four grandchildren. A wake service will be held at 7:30 pm Thursday, June 3, 2010 in the Chapel of Moody-Connolly Funeral Home with Deacon Chuck Moss officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Honor Guard for Transylvania County Veterans.
