John Franklin Whittemore, 87,  formerly of Penrose, passed away on Sunday, February 4, 2024.

He was born on September 24, 1936, in Whittier, NC, to the late Talmadge and Gradie Gasaway Whittemore.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Whittemore was preceded in death by his wife, Elsa Lee Moses Whittemore, sister, Norma Morgan, brothers, Alden and Roy Whittemore, and a son, J. Carroll Whittemore.

He was a retired supervisor from Ecusta Corp.

Survivors include a sister, Lois Capps; three nieces and one nephew; grandson, Jake (Violet); granddaughter, Kayla Fields (Tim); three great grandchildren, Katelyn and Carson Whittemore, and Preston Fields.
