Johnson S. Morgan left this life for his home in Heaven on January 7, 2012. He passed
peacefully in the care of Hospice surrounded by his family and friends. He was born July 13,
1926 in Henderson County and made his home in Pisgah Forest N.C. with his beloved wife of 62
years, Betty Galloway Morgan. Johnny was a veteran of World War II serving in Okinawa. He
worked at Olin Matheson for 40 years and served part time as an officer with the Brevard Police
Department. His love of woodwork was evident as he and Betty worked together to create many
beautiful wooden renderings of local places and historic buildings in and around Transylvania
County. His life was spent happily loving and caring for his wife, his family and his friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary E. Orr and Stephen Johnson Morgan, Mary
Revis and John Elliot Huggins, his parents Maggie Huggins and Burton Erastus Morgan, his
sisters Viola and husband Bill Nicholson, Nona and husband James Ruckman, Eva and husband
Ivan Galloway, Media Morgan, Alma Morgan, granddaughter Tia Olson, and mother and father-
in-law Cora and Fleet Galloway.
He is survived by and will be greatly missed by his adoring wife Betty Galloway Morgan, his
son, Rocky Morgan, and his daughter Sherri and her husband Myron Crowe and his grandson
Jason Morgan and wife Lexi. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Martha Boyd, Margaret
and husband Leon Howard, Judy and husband Jimmy Hawkins and many nieces and nephews
who all love him dearly.
Graveside services with military honors will be held on Tuesday, January 10, 2012 at 2 PM with
Rev. Tommy "Peanut" Owen and the Honor Guard for Veterans of Transylvania County officiating at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, formerly Pisgah Gardens Cemetery in Pisgah Forest.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to TRH Hospice.
