Joseph B. Bonomo II, age 90, of Brevard passed away, Friday, September 11, 2009 at Mission Hospital. He was a son of the late Joseph Bonomo I and Deaga Velascos Bonomo. Joseph was very active at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Brevard. He served in many ways, Knights of Columbus, Head Usher, cooked at the "Christmas Dinner," helped with "Tootsie Roll" fundraiser, and was very instrumental in American Red Cross Blood Drives. Upon retiring to Brevard he was an integral part of "Bonomo Joes," where he made numerous friends from the area. He took up wood carving and participated in Cradle of Forestry events. Participated in "Senior Games" where he received many awards for his work. He was a beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather, and will be greatly missed. He was a man who never met a stranger. Survivors include; His loving wife of 69 years, Frances Fontana Bonomo. One son, Joseph J. Bonomo III and wife Judith, of Brevard. Two grandchildren, David Bonomo and wife Tammy, of Mills River, and Stephanie B. Isaacson and husband John of Oxford, MI. Four great grandchildren, Alexandra Brisbon and Victoria Bonomo, of Mills River, and Sierra and Savanna Isaacson from Oxford, MI. One sister, Rose Marie Bergna of Massapequa, NY. A memorial mass will be held Monday, September 21, 2009, at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
