Joseph Lemuel Gravely Jr., 84 passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Autum Care in Saluda. He was born January 29, 1927 in Transylvania County to the late John L. Gravely Sr. and Mary Clark Gravely. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by a his spouse Lola Owen Gravely one sister Louise Gravely and two brothers Mack and Jack Gravely. He was of the Baptist faith a U.S. Navy veteran and "The Best Brick Layer in Town". Survivors include one son; Joseph N. Gravely of Etowah; two daughters; Mary Owens and her husband Tim of High Point NC, Cindy Roberg and her husband Ben of Denver NC, two step sons; Gary Banther and his wife Kim of Lake Toxaway and Ronnie Banther and his wife Pam of Lake Toxaway, one step daughter Dianne Rice and her husband Ricky of Brevard, three sisters, Lucille Peavy of Catawba SC, Alta Drummend of Franklin NC and Delia Ann Byrd of Saluda NC, eight grandchildren; Shannon Holcomb and her husband Scott of Brevard, Jo Kev Gravely of Saluda, Christy Baldwin and husband Jeff of Waldorf Md, Ashely Callicutt and her husband Kevan of Thomasville, Brook Banther and Brett Banther of Lake Toxaway, Kayla Rice of Brevard and Kyle Rice and his wife Rose of Brevard. Seven great grandchildren; Christopher Holcomb and Cole Holcomb of Brevard, Emma Callicutt and Owen Callicutt of Thomasville, Mackenzie Baldwin, Madison Baldwin and Marissa Baldwin all of Waldorf Md. Funeral services will be held at 4:30 pm Monday, May 23, 2011 at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Tommy Owen. Interment will follow at Pisgah Gardens. The family will receive friends from 3:30pm until 4:30 pm Monday at the funeral home.
