Brevard - Joseph C. Jay, age 70, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021 after a brave battle with cancer. He was a loving husband, father, brother. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe, mother, Catherine, sister, Carroll Ann, and grandson, Felix. He was born on November 17, 1950 in Columbia, SC to Joe and Catherine Jay. He loved his trade of carpentry and especially loved teaching others all he knew. Joe and Margaret were life-long friends and were married September 30, 1978. He was a family man and he and Margaret raised six wonderful children. Survivors include his sister, Kitty, as well as his wife Margaret with whom he raised his family, children include Mary, John, Joe, David, Sarah and Abby. His family grew to include John's wife, Lora and granddaughter, Alyssa; Joe's son, Carter; David's wife, Elizabeth, and granddaughter, Sophia; and Sarah's husband, Bryce. A simple grave-side service will be held on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at Blue Ridge Gardens of Memory, 994 Hendersonville Hwy., Pisgah Forest, NC 28768, at 1 o'clock p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Gospel Mission South America, in memory of Joseph Jay, 1401 SW 21st Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312.
