September 18, 1948 – December 26, 2023
Pisgah Forest - Joseph A. Sansosti, 75, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at his residence.
Joe was the son of the late Frank A. and Alberta Watkins Sansosti. He was preceded in death by his younger brother, James Jeffrey Sansosti.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Glenda Waldrop Sansosti, a son Joseph Edward and wife Laura of Keowee, SC, two grandchildren, Tony and Lauren and several great grandchildren.
Joe was a proud US Marine and served his country as a combat veteran, having received two purple hearts for being wounded during a three-day battle in DiaDo in May of 1968. He was also a featured veteran in Michel Roberts book Welcome Home Brother . Joe was a lifetime member of both the Brevard American Legion and the Brevard VFW.
Joe worked as a millwright at Ecusta Paper Mill until its closing. He also served as President of the Local 1971 Paper Worker's Union. He loved his family pets, especially his English Setter, Dottie and his little Yorkie buddy, Oscar.
He was an avid bass fisherman and a NASCAR fan. He enjoyed hiking and fishing in Alaska, the Grand Canyon and the many trails in Pisgah National Forest.
Joe will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

A memorial service with military honors will be held 2pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at the Moody Connolly Funeral Home with the Reverend Hank Moffitt officiating.
