Josephine Vizzini Platt Brevard - Josephine Vizzini Platt, 89, of Brevard, North Carolina, passed away Feb. 8, 2015 at her home with her family by her side. Josephine was born on June 9, 1925 in Jamesburg, New Jersey, the daughter of Mary and Salvatore Vizzini. The best thing about high school for Josephine was that she met the love of her life…Alfred F. Platt. She graduated from Jamesburg High School in 1943 and on September 1, 1946, she married the late Alfred F. Platt. Josephine's life was centered around her family, moving to various cities as Alfred managed several plants for GM. Josephine enjoyed living in Atlanta, Ossining, New York, Grand Blanc, Michigan, Cincinnati, Ohio, Troy, Michigan, Lake Toxaway, North Carolina and finally Brevard, North Carolina. While raising her family, Josephine was an avid bridge player, and spent many hours with friends around a card table. She loved golf and enjoyed playing with Al in Michigan, Florida, and North Carolina. After Al's retirement in 1988, they spent more time in Sarasota, Florida, where they made new friends, took up boating and enjoyed plenty of time outdoors. She is survived by her children: Alfred Platt, of Brevard, N.C.; Craig (Linda) Platt, of Kalamazoo, Michigan; Joanne (Brian) Shenstone, of Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan; and Patrick Platt of Grand Rapids, Michigan. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Parker Platt, Maggie (Christian) McLauchlin, Woody (Shannon) Platt, Kobi (Margaret) Platt, Abby (Todd) Vernon, Carly Platt and Ella Platt, and three great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will hold a private service at a later date. Memorials may be made to The Cindy Platt Boys and Girls Club of Transylvania County.
