Josie Queen Holden, 97, passed away on Monday, March 26, 2012 at her residence. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Hattie Cline Queen and was the wife of the late Hubert Holden. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Jean Holden, and several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Holden was the oldest living member of Grace Baptist Church. Surviving are her son, Charles W. Holden of Brevard; daughters, Carolyn H. Gaither of Greenville, SC, and Gladys H. Street and husband Mack of Brevard; sister, Mildred Vincent of Brevard; sisters-in-law, Helen Barton of Hendersonville and Lillian Bryson of Brevard; 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a number of nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm Saturday, March 31, 2012 in the Moody-Connolly Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Shane Duncan and Shane Hardesty officiating. Burial will be in Carr's Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 until 3 pm Saturday at the funeral home.
