Pisgah Forest - Joyce Ann Dempsey, 87, passed peacefully away in the presence of her daughter, Tami L Goostree on Thursday, February 10, 2022. Joyce was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania on 31 January 1935. She married Harlan Dempsey and had two children, Tami and Terry. Always independent and ahead of her time, Joyce graduated with a bachelor's degree in the 1950s and worked as a civilian for the United States Air Force. She was an avid golfer, genealogist, and adventurer who always had a story to tell. Anyone who had the pleasure of knowing her would agree that Joyce was the most caring, loving woman with a heart of gold. She will be deeply missed. Joyce is survived by a daughter and daughter-in-law, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that any donations be made to the Transylvania Animal Shelter, as Joyce was a lifelong advocate for stray and wayward animals. Funeral services will be held 5pm, Friday, February 18, 2022 at Moody Connolly Funeral Home.
