Judy Ann Widlowski née Harkins, 74, former longtime resident of Isle of Palms, SC, died Wednesday, September 11, 2024, after a long battle with cancer.
She was born in Chicago, IL, in 1950, and graduated from Millikin University in Decatur, IL, where she met her husband of more than 50 years, Thomas Widlowski, from Rantoul, IL.
Family and friends will remember her as a loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She spent her career and free time in service to others, as a social worker for Dialysis Clinic, Inc. in Charleston and as a volunteer for animal rescue organizations and adopter of traumatized dogs.
She is survived by her husband Tom, currently of Brevard, NC, former Community Education Director for Charleston County Schools. Also surviving are her three sons, who grew up on Isle of Palms and attended schools in Sullivan's Island, Mount Pleasant, and North Charleston: Brian, of Brevard, a professional drummer; Andrew, John's Island, a chef, married to Miranda Barnhill with two children, Ruby and Arley; and Robert, of Takarazuka City, Japan, a professional bassist, married to Eri née Kanaoka.
Judy's sister Myrna Rose, married to Russell Rose, lives in Charlotte, NC. Other survivors include niece Laura Rose and her husband Mark Poremba, of Awendaw, SC; grandniece Emma Rose Stark, Brooklyn, NY; and extended family in Chicago and Scotland. Judy is predeceased by her mother, father, and brother.
A memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 17, 10am, at Moody-Connolly Funeral Home, 181 S. Caldwell St., Brevard, NC. All who knew her are welccome.
